Paul Schaefer, a certified physician assistant, brings a longtime passion for medicine to the care of his patients. At Beaufort Memorial Orthopaedic Specialists, he works to diagnose and treat disorders and injuries to bones and joints.

Background

Before joining the orthopaedics practice in 2016, he had for the previous year been a physician assistant in primary care, dividing his time between Beaufort Memorial Primary Care and Beaufort Memorial Lady's Island Internal Medicine.

Mr. Schaefer came to Beaufort from Charleston, where he was a fine-needle aspiration technician at the Medical University of South Carolina. Earlier, he was a patient care technician at MUSC and a certified nursing assistant in medical-surgical, long-term care and rehabilitation units at medical facilities in Seneca, South Carolina.

He and his wife, Katie, have two children. Among his off-hours interests are golfing, hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors.
