About Mrs. Amanda Piolata

“I look at my patient as a whole person, how a health condition affects their daily life. I involve them in the decision-making process. We work together to make them feel better.”

Amanda Piolata, a certified physician assistant, diagnoses and treats patients of all ages at Beaufort Memorial Express Care & Occupational Health.

Areas of Expertise

  • Laceration Repair – Cleaning, disinfecting and closing, sometimes with stitches, tears or cuts in the skin and underlying tissues.
  • Acute Upper Respiratory Infection (URI) – A self-limiting viral or bacterial infection of the upper airways, including the sinuses and throat, that causes congestion, runny nose and cough. Colds are the most common.
  • Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) – A condition, more common in women, in which bacteria invade and grow in the urinary tract. Infections mostly occur in the bladder and urethra but may also affect the kidneys and ureters.
  • Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) – A disease caused by bacteria, viruses or other microorganisms passed from one person to another through contact with bodily fluids, usually during sex with an infected partner. Examples are syphilis, chlamydia, gonorrhea and human papillomavirus (HPV).
  • Acute Musculoskeletal Conditions – Injuries or disorders of the muscles, nerves, tendons, joints, cartilage and spinal discs, including overuse and sports injuries. Examples are fractures, sprains and strains.

Video Visits

Piolata offers virtual urgent care visits for acute illness and follow-up care for certain conditions.

Background

The Columbus, Ohio, native came to the practice in fall 2022 with extensive experience in the provision of urgent and primary care to both adults and children, having served for five years as a physician assistant at OhioHealth Urgent Care in Gahanna/Reynoldsburg, a Columbus suburb. Earlier she worked in the same capacity at CardioMetabolic Health in nearby Westerville, where before becoming a physician assistant she had been an exercise physiologist.

A longtime fan of the Lowcountry, Mrs. Piolata began vacationing on Hilton Head Island when she was in the sixth grade. She now hopes to persuade her whole family to leave Ohio winters behind and join her here.

Mrs. Piolata and her husband, Michael, a stay-at-home dad, have three young daughters. The family enjoys time together at the pool and the beach, the park and the library, exploring new places and just “getting out of the house”!
