About Mr. Harold Harvey

"As a physician assistant in rural primary care, I have the privilege of developing relationships with generations of patients from all walks of life. My profession has allowed me to give back to the community that has nurtured me from a child."

A Hampton native, certified physician assistant Buck Harvey has spent much of his life caring for families in the county of his birth.

He began his career as a physician assistant in the office of Dr. Harrison Peeples, where he remained until Dr. Peeples's retirement. Thereafter he joined the medical staff of Beaufort Memorial Harrison Peeples Health Care Center.

A longtime leader in and advocate for rural primary care, Mr. Harvey was a founding board member of the South Carolina Rural Health Association and the Hamptom County Rural Health Foundation. He currently serves on the boards of the South Carolina Office of Rural Health--which conferred on him and his longtime Harrison Peeples colleague Dr. Neal Shealy the prestigious 2017 Pioneer of the Year Award for their significant contributions to the delivery of primary care in a rural environment--and the Southern Carolina Alliance.

He also precepts physician assistant, nurse practitioner and medical students in rural primary care.

Mr. Harvey and his wife, Phyllis, have one daughter and three grandchildren. He enjoys beekeeping, making turkey calls, hunting and spending time with his family.
