Primary Care
When it comes to taking care of your health, there are only a few people you can depend on — yourself, a spouse or close loved one, and your primary care physician. While you may be the only one who knows you have an occasional headache, your primary care provider knows your entire medical history, your health goals and your personality. He or she sees the long view and the big picture, helping you stay healthier as you age.
That’s why it’s important to find a primary care provider you trust and want as a health partner for the long term. Your primary care provider takes an active role in maintaining your health through regular physicals and screenings, basic preventive care, and managing chronic disease.
Choose a primary care doctor who understands you and will help keep you healthy for a lifetime. See the providers at each of our medical practices or find a primary care provider accepting new patients.
Why Do You Need a Primary Care Provider?
By choosing a primary care provider, you will develop a one-on-one relationship that grows stronger over time, offering you and your family continuity of care. Primary care providers diagnose and treat a variety of common acute and chronic conditions. They can also educate you about a healthy lifestyle and make sure you get appropriate screenings to prevent disease and maintain your overall health for years to come.
- Watch over you: Your primary care provider gathers information over the years he or she knows you and learns more about your health. This helps you get a more complete and accurate diagnosis when needed.
- Act as a single point person: As health issues come up, your primary care provider can refer you to specialists he or she knows and trusts. That means a more collaborative and holistic approach to your care.
- Save you time: If you get sick, having a relationship with a doctor means you get care more quickly because they know your history. He or she may even be able to help you over the phone or via email.
- Help prevent future illness: When you visit your primary care provider for regular physicals and exams, you will learn more about topics specific to your health and how you can prevent chronic illnesses.
