Primary Care Services
Whether you have an acute (short-term) illness that needs treatment or a chronic (long-term) condition that needs to be managed, a primary care provider (PCP) at Beaufort Memorial can help. Our team of board-certified family medicine physicians, internal medicine physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants are here to keep you as healthy as possible and work with you to manage any ongoing health conditions.
Primary care physicians and their teams are skilled in diagnosing a number of common illnesses and chronic diseases. They serve as your first point of contact in the health care system, treat your condition when possible and refer you to a specialist if necessary.

Common Conditions Our Primary Care Providers Treat
Our team can treat a variety of common conditions, as well as those you may think need help from a specialist. Visit us if you experience:
- Acute upper respiratory infections — The common cold and other respiratory infections often clear up on their own, but our PCPs can help you treat unpleasant symptoms and prevent them from worsening into something more serious.
-
Allergies and asthma —These two common chronic conditions can range from mild to severe. Our PCPs can help you pinpoint your triggers, treat symptoms and, in the case of asthma, avoid potentially serious attacks.
-
Chronic diseases — PCPs can help you manage conditions, such as diabetes and heart disease, that can lead to long-term complications.
-
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) — Although COPD has no cure, proper treatment can improve breathing for people with COPD and potentially prevent severe exacerbations.
-
Coronaviruses — COVID-19 is one of many diseases caused by this family of highly contagious viruses. Beaufort Memorial PCPs can help you identify symptoms and recommend appropriate treatments.
-
Ear, nose and throat (ENT) conditions — Hearing loss, a primary condition treated by ENT specialists, can be diagnosed by your PCP, who can refer you to a specialist when necessary.
-
Earache and infection — Not just a problem for young children, earaches can affect adults, too. Your PCP can help you determine whether antibiotics or other treatments are necessary.
-
Influenza — Your PCP is the best person to advise you on the annual flu vaccine and offer help if you get sick to limit severe complications like pneumonia.
-
Insomnia — This sleep disorder often occurs alongside other health problems. Your PCP can help you identify any underlying causes and navigate you to appropriate treatments and therapies.
-
Migraines — A PCP can help develop a treatment plan for these chronic, severe headaches that may help minimize symptoms and frequency and address any related health conditions.
-
Sinus infections — Sinus infections are very common, and over-the-counter treatments may lose effectiveness over the long term. A PCP can help determine the cause of your infections so you can avoid recurrence.
-
Sexually transmitted diseases — Our compassionate PCPs understand STDs can be difficult to discuss. They can help you evaluate your risk, administer tests if necessary and treat these conditions before they have a long-term impact on your physical or reproductive health.
-
Urinary tract infections — These infections are common and easily treatable with help from your PCP. He or she can also help you identify causes and develop strategies to prevent them in the future.
