About Dr. Lauren Oglesby
“A physician is as much a coach, partner and guide as a healer, and the trust between physician and patient is of utmost importance. I strive to ensure that my patients feel heard and seen while practicing evidence-based medicine and compassionate care.”
Board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics, Dr. Lauren Oglesby joined Beaufort Memorial Harrison Peeples Health Care Center in September 2021 on completion of her medical residency. Trained in med-peds—a specialty that combines internal medicine and pediatrics—she works at the practice to prevent, diagnose and treat acute and chronic illness in adults and children.
Growing up on a small farm in nearby Effingham County, Georgia, Dr. Oglesby says she learned to value family, farming, church and community above all else. She set her heart on a career in medicine at an early age, and caring for people in rural and underserved areas became her goal. The opportunity to practice at Harrison Peeples she describes as “an honor and a privilege.”
Besides rural health care, Dr. Oglesby includes among her professional interests adolescent medicine; conditions that exist over a patient’s lifetime (for example, congenital heart disease); and HIV.
She and her husband, Clint, an electrical engineer, live on the family farm, where they enjoy tending their gardens and pets. A veteran of several medical and church-sponsored mission trips, she hopes to take part in more such trips in the future.
