Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Robert Vyge specializes in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illness at Beaufort Memorial Lady's Island Internal Medicine. He has a particular interest in helping his patients with chronic diseases like diabetes to stay healthy.

The Toronto native says he knew by fifth grade that medicine was the profession for him. During his teens, he worked at VJ Rickshaw Tours, a summer business that taught him the value of long hours and a strong back.

Before coming to Beaufort, Dr. Vyge practiced internal medicine with Marion Medical Group in Marion, South Carolina, for 13 years. During the period he also served as chief of the medical staff at Marion County Medical Center (now Carolinas Hospital System-Marion).

Dr. Vyge and his wife, Pam, have three daughters. In his leisure time he enjoys tennis in addition to travel and outdoor activities with his family.
