About Dr. Yvette-Marie Pellegrino

Board certified in family medicine and obesity medicine, Dr. Yvette-Marie Pellegrino came to Beaufort Memorial Lady’s Island Internal Medicine in 2018 from the Iredell Physician Network in North Carolina. At the Beaufort Memorial practice she works to prevent, diagnose and treat acute and chronic illness in adults.
Areas of Expertise
- Preventive care – Check-ups, immunizations, tests and screenings used to prevent serious diseases and medical conditions or to detect them before they become major problems.
- Obesity Medicine – A field of medicine that looks at and works with the behaviors, environment, genetics, nutrition, physiology and psychosocial issues that contribute to obesity.
- Metabolic disorders – A collection of conditions, including obesity, high blood pressure, high blood triglycerides, low levels of HDL cholesterol and insulin resistance, which often occur together and increase your risk of diabetes, stroke and heart disease.
- Diabetes – A chronic condition characterized by abnormally high levels of glucose, or sugar, in the blood that affects how the body turns food into energy and can cause damage to the heart, nerves, kidneys or eyes.

Background
Among her professional interests and fields of expertise is helping patients manage their weight. In Mooresville, North Carolina, she designed and implemented a successful community-based weight loss clinic, Iredell Healthy Weight, along with her primary care practice, Pellegrino Family Medicine.
Dr. Pellegrino has been a member of the faculty at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and Wake Forest Baptist Health and a preceptor for nurse practitioner students at East Carolina University.
Dr. Pellegrino and her husband, Roberto, have three children, Dante, Giovanni and Sophia. She loves to spend time outdoors exploring nature; try recipes from different cultures; and curl up with a good book on rainy days.
