About Mrs. Maggie Benton
"As a mental health provider, I promote the well-being of the whole person. I believe it is important to consider not only mental health, but also physical and spiritual health. While medication can be a necessary part of helping a patient feel better, it is only one part of a treatment plan."
A board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, Maggie Thompson came to Beaufort Memorial Sea Island Psychiatry with extensive experience in the mental health field.
Among her professional interests are mood and anxiety disorders, women's mental health and integrative psychiatric care--that is, bringing together mind, body and medicine.
Before coming to Beaufort Memorial Physician Partners, Ms. Thompson worked in the inpatient acute care units at Coastal Harbor Health System an Georgia Regional Hospital in Savannah. Earlier, she spent six years at Piedmont Counseling Center in Danville, Virginia.
During her career in psychiatric care, Ms. Thompson has also served on staff at several counseling centers in Savannah and Danville and as a nurse educator in Virginia.
A mother of three, she and her husband, Wayne, enjoy spending time on the water and RV camping.
