About Dr. Rhonda Wallace
"I strive to empower patients to take an active role in their healthcare management. Building relationships while maintaining an open line of communication and trust with patients is what I enjoy most about family medicine."
Dr. Rhonda Wallace joined Beaufort Memorial Bluffton Primary Care in 2020, bringing significant experience in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illness.
She began her medical career as a nurse intern in the cardiac intensive care unit at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. After graduation she continued her work with cardiac patients at a medical center in North Dakota.
Eager to take her practice of medicine to a higher level, she became a certified physician assistant, working in emergency and urgent care settings, and as an adjunct professor in the physician assistant program at the University of North Dakota. Once her children were on their own, she embarked on a Doctor of Medicine degree with a specialty in family medicine.
Dr. Wallace’s work in the ER developed her passion for helping her patients achieve good health and fitness, believing that maintaining wellness can avert many acute illnesses.
The North Dakota native is married to Robert Christensen, who grew up in the Lowcountry. They have four grown children—including a daughter currently in family medicine residency—and three grandchildren. In their leisure time they enjoy paddling kayaks and riding road bikes.
