About Douglas Folzenlogen
Based in the hospital, Douglas J. Folzenlogen, M.D., leads the medical team and coordinates inpatient care across medical specialties. He may examine individuals as they’re admitted, ordering x-rays, diagnostic tests and other lab work; then analyze test/imaging results, order treatments and medical services and prescribe medications.
Dr. Folzenlogen only sees patients for the length of their hospital stay and determines when the patient is ready to leave. Upon discharge, hospital staff assist with the transition of care from the hospitalist to the patient’s primary care provider, specialists and/or other services if they are needed.
Background
Elected chief of staff at Beaufort Memorial Hospital in October 2023, Dr. Folzenlogen represents the hospital’s medical staff as an ex-officio member of the Board of Trustees.
He spent 18 years with the Adena Health System in Chillicothe, Ohio. During that time, he was a physician representative on the system’s board of directors and its finance committee. He also served as director of the hospitalist group. Dr. Folzenlogen joined the BMH medical staff in 2016. In 2022, he was named Provider of the Year at the hospital’s inaugural Bemmy Awards.
