Cancer Specialties at Beaufort Memorial
At Beaufort Memorial, our experts have dedicated themselves to the prevention, early detection and treatment of a wide variety of cancers. We take the time to get to know you and your unique needs, and together we will create a plan designed just for you.
Being close to home and family is important when diagnosed with cancer. At our Keyserling Cancer Center in Beaufort and New River Cancer Center in Okatie, we’ve focused on providing local access to a variety of services, including preventive and diagnostic screenings, radiation therapy, an infusion center, and more.
Through our affiliation with the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC Health), you also have access to an even higher level of specialty care, as well as cancer clinical trials.
Breast Cancer
Beaufort Memorial is committed to helping women prevent or overcome a breast cancer diagnosis. With a range of services from advanced screening mammography to surgical and nonsurgical treatments, our nationally recognized Breast Health Centers in Beaufort and Okatie are ready to serve women throughout our area.
Colorectal Cancer
Colorectal cancer can be prevented, and even cured, if detected early. Our mission is to prevent as many cases as possible of this potentially fatal cancer in our area. Our providers help you maintain a regular schedule of colorectal cancer screenings, based on your health and risk factors. If cancer does develop, you have access to minimally invasive surgery, radiation therapy and other treatments close to home.
Kidney Cancer
If you have kidney cancer, we work to find the best specialists to meet your needs. Our team helps coordinate care with local and regional experts throughout your entire treatment. Treatment may include a minimally invasive surgery to remove the damaged kidney.
Lung Cancer
As a Lung Cancer Alliance-designated Lung Cancer Screening Center of Excellence, our priority is detecting lung cancer before it has the potential to ruin lives. Our low-dose CT lung cancer screening program for adults ages 55-77 who meet specific criteria allows us to identify lung cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages. If cancer is found, you have access to a network of specialists and advanced radiation therapy close to home.
Prostate Cancer
Our primary care providers and urologists understand that prostate cancer can be a scary and confusing disease. They work diligently to help men understand when screening should begin. If prostate cancer is detected, they develop individualized treatment plans that can range from watchful waiting, or active surveillance, to hormone therapy, radiation therapy or surgery with the goal of treating the disease with minimal impact on quality of life.
Skin Cancer
Exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun and tanning beds causes most forms of skin cancer — a disease that is highly preventable with regular skin cancer screenings. Our primary care providers are skilled in identifying all forms of the disease, can work with you on skin cancer prevention, and help coordinate appropriate treatment if necessary.
