Beaufort Memorial Presents Local 5K Race Series Coined the Triple Crown

Beaufort Memorial Hospital (BMH) is proud to present the second annual Beaufort Triple Crown 5K Race Series. As the exclusive sponsor of this popular series with races in October and November, Beaufort Memorial hopes to encourage community and BMH staff members alike to engage in an active lifestyle. To further support participation, Beaufort Memorial LifeFit Wellness Center launched a free Couch to 5K program in August to build community and help novice and experienced racers prepare for the events.
“Helping community members achieve their health and fitness goals is what we do every day,” said LifeFit Wellness Center Manager David Purser. “The Couch to 5K program is a great way for individuals to receive personal guidance and see our highly trained wellness coaches in action.”
The 2023 Triple Crown Race Series Includes:
- Beaufort Shrimp Festival's Run Forrest Run 5K on Saturday, Oct. 7
- Holy Trinity Classical Christian School’s Swing Bridge Run 5K on Saturday, Nov. 4
- Habitat for Humanity of the Lowcountry’s Turkey Trot 5K on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23
Each of the races follows the same USA Track & Field (USATF) certified racecourse through historic downtown Beaufort and over the famous Woods Memorial Bridge. Runners and walkers of all fitness levels are encouraged to challenge themselves to complete all three runs and, thanks to Grounded Running, will have finish times logged – providing the ability to track speed increases during the series.

In addition to the feeling of accomplishment and unforgettable experience, each Triple Crown participant receives three themed race t-shirts and a unique finishers medal to display a custom charm for each race. Registered participants will receive their charms at the finish line of each race and the series medal at the final race. The deadline to register for the full series is Oct. 5.
Runners who complete all three races will also be eligible to win a special award from Beaufort Memorial LifeFit Wellness Center.
