The Breast Health Center serves many women who have recently moved to the area or are transferring from another clinic or facility. If you've never had a mammogram with us before, you may have some questions.
Why do I need to have my previous mammogram films?
The most important part of mammography is looking for changes in breast tissue from year to year.
When a radiologist reads and interprets your mammogram, he or she may go back to images from two or three years ago to compare subtle differences in the breast tissue. To do this, your actual mammography films are needed, not just the report.
Beaufort Memorial Breast Health Center asks that you obtain your previous mammogram images prior to scheduling your mammogram appointment. This allows us to provide you with your results on the same day and helps you avoid unnecessary tests, costs and anxiety.
How do I get my old mammogram films?
- Download our “Release of Records” form. Fill it out and send it to the facility where you had your earlier mammograms done.
- Have the films mailed to your home address.
- Call 843-522-5015 to schedule your mammogram in either our Beaufort or Bluffton location.
What do I do if I can’t remember where I had my last mammogram?
Call the Breast Health Center at 843-522-5029 or stop by either of our locations – in Beaufort at 989 Ribaut Road or in Okatie at 122 Okatie Center Blvd. North.
A staff member will be happy to assist you in locating your previous facility and obtaining your films.
What if something is wrong with my breasts such as a lump, discharge, pain or other problems?
Contact your physician immediately and schedule an appointment. Problems such as lumps, pain, etc. require a diagnostic mammogram ordered by your physician. Your physician’s office will call the Breast Health Center and get you scheduled as soon as possible.
