Our Commitment to the Community

At Beaufort Memorial, we believe health care should be accessible to all, which is why we’re committed to providing affordable, effective health care services to everyone in our community. Our employees make it possible for us to offer programs and partnerships that help thousands of residents enjoy a better quality of life. Expanding Services

One of our priorities at Beaufort Memorial is to improve access to health care in our local communities. BMH Care Anywhere, the region’s first telemedicine program, offers high-quality health care from a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a webcam and internet service.

Beaufort Memorial primary care providers and specialists can see patients on the platform during business hours, and remote providers offer low-cost services 24/7 to patients needing on-demand care.

Patients also have access to BMH Care Anywhere through our unique partnership with Publix supermarkets. In many Lowcountry Publix pharmacies, patients can now find a telemedicine kiosk and connect with a provider.

We also have new Express Care and primary care clinics in Bluffton, Okatie and Port Royal, and our Okatie Medical Pavilion offers our second full-service cancer center along with other specialty services.

Affordable Health Care

To make health care less expensive for low-income, uninsured or under-insured patients, Beaufort Memorial partners with local service organizations, including:

  • AccessHealth Lowcountry — This program helps low-income, uninsured adults find medical care with free or sliding-fee-scale services and screenings, as well as transportation and medication assistance.
  • The Good Neighborhood Medical Clinic (GNMC) — Beaufort Memorial donates space for GNMC to operate in a central location across from the hospital. We also provide financial support to GNMC and laboratory services for patients at no charge to the clinic or the patient.
  • The Lending Room — Beaufort Memorial donates space so this nonprofit can let patients borrow medically necessary equipment for both short- and long-term use, regardless of income or insurance.

  • Beaufort Area Hospitality Association — Beaufort Memorial recognizes that tourism and the service industry play a vital role in our local economy, and we have partnered with the local hospitality association to develop an affordable primary care service for area workers through a direct primary care model. The program connects employees to a primary care team that offers preventive care, discusses nutrition and medications, and recommends free- and low-cost programs, medications and resources, allowing employees to get and stay healthy and avoid costly time away from work.
  • Community Health Program — One tool that Beaufort Memorial has to help encourage area residents to actively participate in their health and wellbeing is a 40-foot mobile wellness unit that visits different locations throughout Beaufort and Jasper counties to provide free services, such as blood pressure checks, blood sugar checks, and breast, prostate and skin cancer screenings. Additional services, such as cholesterol checks and prostate-specific antigen tests, are available for a small fee.

Removing More Barriers

We recognize it takes more than just high-quality medical care to achieve optimal health and wellness — not only for patients in the community but also for our employees. Beaufort Memorial is committed to addressing:

  • Food insecurity — We donate food to local food banks and offer low-cost meals to our employees 24/7 at the Beaufort Memorial Riverview Cafe. To further help employees address the rising cost of feeding their families, Beaufort Memorial offers a family meal deal to take home a meal for four at a deeply discounted price.
  • Transportation struggles — Transportation to and from health care appointments is provided for patients who need it.
  • Affordable childcare — Parents should never have to make a choice between their children and work. Beaufort Memorial offers safe, low-cost childcare to employees and others who need it.
  • Home-buying assistance — Qualified employees can receive up to $10,000 in financial support for a down payment or closing costs to purchase or refinance a home.

Beaufort Memorial is committed to serving our community and will continue to develop new programs and partnerships that benefit our neighbors and our employees.
